A Cochise County Sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured while attempting to stop an alleged smuggler fleeing from law enforcement Thursday.
The deputy was in the process of deploying spikes to stop the smuggler’s vehicle when he fell 15 feet, resulting in serious injuries, according to Cochise County Sheriff Mark J. Dannels’ Facebook page.
The deputy was flown by helicopter to a Tucson trauma center, according to Dannels.
