This investigation into Ricardo Garcia began on Dec. 17, 2022, leading to his arrest and indictment.

The department has extended support to the victim, with investigative efforts ongoing.

In response to a civil notice of claim received on Thursday, June 15, legal counsel was engaged to guide the department’s response. An Internal Affairs complaint, mirroring the civil claim, was filed on Monday, July 31.

The PCSD emphasizes preserving victim privacy and cooperation with external reviews but notes that administrative inquiries await the conclusion of criminal and civil proceedings.

Deputies say the department is committed to upholding these principles while addressing concerns surrounding the case.
